  • This is the friendliest winery that I have been to. The wines are great and the staff were very knowledgeable. The owners were very accommodating. This winery has a family friendly atmosphere so bring out the family and enjoy this Okanagan GEM!

  • Always friendly service, and great wines! I always really enjoy the personal touch, and I enjoy supporting a local family-run winery.

  • I mean if Brooke Shields likes it, it must be good…because that’s my barometer. I don’t go to a winery unless I think to myself, “what does the actress who played “customer” in The Muppets Take Manhattan think about this one?” Though seriously, if Tommy Wiseau from “The Room” supported something of mine, I’d put that on every advertisement. And I’m not reaching with that above statement—there’s a poster hanging in the tasting room claiming Shields is an advocate for the Winery. We visited House of Rose (a great name for the winery, by the way) based on the challenge handed to us from Camelot (the winery Camelot, I’m not suffering from dementia) to visit the other members of the Fab Five, also including Spierhead, The Vibrant Wine, and The View. From above, utilizing Google Maps, you’d be confused at the odd zig-zagging roads taking you from one location to another, and you would also be safe to assume the distances between said wineries would be easy to cross. What is not immediately apparent are the relative altitudes of these locations, with House of Rose at the base of the hill all other wineries rest on. Thus, a one-kilometer journey becomes four, and you can forget about walking. House of Rose is the easternmost winery, but one you really shouldn’t miss. Right up front, I loved the intimate nature of the location. It’s small with a modest tasting room. The architecture is rudimentary; you’d pass it by, dismissing it as a special needs school if it wasn’t for the dark metal rose towering over the entire premises (I initially typed “gunmetal,” but kept throwing up devil horns each time I read over it). The colors are effervescent and the personalities of the hosts are bubbling. The bottles are…wacky. They are wacky…I got no other words that work. One has a moose on the cover and is called “Rose-Eh.” Other names include Grapes With Benefits, Cool Splash, Hot Flash, Sweet Mystery, and A Senior Moment. The designs are cartoonish, reminding me of those found at Blasted Church. We still have a bottle of Cool Splash from our last visit, where we visited 60 wineries over the course of a week (bringing back 120 bottles). The wines at House of Rose also reasonably priced. And has no one mentioned that the location is technically named after the winemaker, who is ACTUALLY named Aura Rose. Is that not the best name ever? House of Rose is another great winery in a great wine region. It might not have the theme of Camelot or the psychedelic presentation of The Vibrant Wine, but it probably has the better wine.
