  • The tasting room is so lovely! The staff are really friendly and the honey wine is delicious. A nice way to change it up on a wine tour.

  • BEES! I love Meadow Vista. Unqualified baby hedgehog-like love. It’s just different enough to set itself apart from all the others. It’s not a member of the Fab Five, but it absolutely needs to be a spot if you are in the region. I don’t know who recommended it, but I’m glad they did. It’s a simple winery, bathed in obviously themed yellow tones. Understandable given Meadow Vista is a honey winery. BEES! And what’s another name for honey wine? That’s right, I’m a fantasy buff, I write for D&D, and this place sells mead. Count me in…unless I’m broke. Which I was. I’m so sorry. That was almost a year ago. My girlfriend and I had been on a long journey from Osoyoos to Kelowna. We had visited 60 wineries and purchased 120 bottles of wine. By the time we reached Meadow Vista, I was tapped out. The girlfriend wasn’t but didn’t care for the sweetness of mead. I went home empty-handed. That all changed a few weeks ago when we led our two closest friends on a similar journey. Meadow Vista was one of the few wineries revisited, on my insistence. BEES! This time I was ready. The location, as said, wraps itself in its theme without crossing a line into being screwy or laughable. No one is dressed in a bee costume. There’s honey, honey drippers, all related merchandise that would make sense given the environment. The host, the same on both visits, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate. She wasn’t the owner, but she talked liked she owned the place. The tastings are only $2 for a complete run through the selection, the best deal you’ll find in the region. The revenue goes to a cause as well, justifying it further (something about helping homeless bees, I think). BEES! We loaded up. For me, it started with a pair of sparklings, the Bliss Sparkling Cherry Honey Wine in the 1L bottle and the Bliss Sparkling Apple Cyser in the 500ml bottle (only because the 1L wasn’t available). I then picked up the fantastic, spicy, and aromatic Mabon Spiced Honey wine that I may serve hot when the times comes. After that was the Ostera Dessert wine and the Farm Folk City Folk Field White—and what?! What is that? Farm Folk City Folk Field White? I know that reads like I just the punched the autocorrect six times, but that’s the name of the bottle. I was certain I asked for the Cloud Horse, the traditional mead, and I’m only noticing it now absent. Did the clerk put the wrong bottle in the box? Even though it was only a few weeks ago, I’m only now remembering the visit and writing up this review, and I cannot remember what I had asked for. But…mead! I don’t even remember trying this Farm Folk City—look, I’m just going to call it “Frank” from now on, okay—I’m sure Frank is a very good wine. Frank supports a good cause, with a percentage of every sale going to FarmFolk CityFolk, whatever that is. BEES! I mean it could have been an honest mistake on either of our parts. Meadow Vista is still amazing and worth visiting. The bottle design is absolutely inspired. And I’m sure Frank is a very good bottle. I loved the fact I could return to make up for not buying wine the first time. It’s still one of the best locations to visit in Kelowna. They make the best honey wine around and is worth the trip. BEES!!!
